In 1991, a
group of people sharing similar ideas decided to create a new newspaper
that would be able to report on the public life of the town, region,
and the country. The first issue of "Nadezhda" ("Hope"
in Russian) was published on February 22, 1992. It was not long
before "Nadezhda" became the most popular publication
in the City of Uralsk. Yuriy Bayev, known for his creativity and
non-conformism became the first Editor-in-Chief.
Prior to publishing
the first issue of "Nadezhda", its publishers requested
a blessing from Bulat Okudzhava - the famous 20th Century Russian
poet and bard. Bulat Shavlovich has blessed them with the following
words: "Hope is a remarkable word. Thanks to the feeling of
hope, humanity improves upon itself and moves forward. But we should
not turn it into a fetish, because then we'll become dependent serfs
and actually end up losing hope. Let hope help us remain humans
in any circumstances".
From that
time, the Bulat Okudzhava became the godfather of "Nadezhda".
The first
slogan of the newspaper were by Leo Tolstoy: "If evil people
are connected and are strong through those connections, the good
people should only do the same".
These wise
words were very important in that period when "Nadezhda"
highlighted the deficiencies in the society. But it never remained
an outsider itself - on its pages conflicting opinions routinely
collided after every significant social event. The newspaper reported
on the most burning issues always taking a courageous public stand
on those issues.
We cannot
say that the last years have been trouble-free for "Nadezhda".
It has survived a lot - court persecutions, suspension of publication,
change in editorial personnel. It changed addresses, format, and
circulation but never its objectivity.
Today's editorial
team is continuing good traditions of "Nadezhda". We still
respond to important events, raise issues and recommend our solution
to them. The editorial team has good working relationships with
its readers publishing materials under such columns as "We
need you opinion", "Put the question squarely", "To
those in power", "The topic of the week", "Don't
sleep, Consumer!", "Sign of the week", "Such
is our life" and others. People feel the influence and power
of our newspaper and go to us to ask for an advise on issue important
to them.
To improve
the legal knowledge of the population we have established in mid-2002
a free public legal desk. Over its existence it has provided hundreds
of people with expert legal help. The most frequent situations from
the experience of that desk find their way to the pages of our newspaper.
As a part
of one of the many public actions of the editorial team, we collected
clothing for children from underprivileged families. As a result
of publication of a series of articles, the town council decided
to provide housing to the multi-children family of the victims of
the previous fire left without the father. These are just some of
the examples of our help to the people in need.
But the workers
of "Nadezhda" don't rest on their laurels. We plan to
further increase the circulation of the newspaper. We plan to achieve
it by transitioning to the multi-colour format and by improving
the quality and contents of the published information and reports.
"Nadezhda" will continue help our readers Believe in their
strength and resourcefulness, Work creatively and, most importantly,
Win. These simple words that became the slogan for the "Condensate"
Group of Companies now define the direction for the newspaper which,
according to the polls by the social movement "Artu",
leads the Uralsk region as the most respectable newspaper.
The shareholder
of the newspaper "Nadezhda", "Status" LLP is
a member of the "Condensate" Group of Companies. In addition
to publishing "Nadezhda", "Status" LLP publishes
a variety of the paper products on its publishing equipment.
The General
Director of "Status" LLP is Marat Mukanaliev . Newspaper
"Nadezhda" is issued once a week with a circulation of
12,500 copies. It is distributed in the City of Uralsk, other districts
of the West-Kazakhstan Region, as well as outside of the region.
The editor-in-chief
of "Nadezhda" is Adilbek Kumargazhin, the winner of the
prize by the Union of the Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

editor is Olga Olyunina. Correspondents are Bulat Maulenberliev,
